The Police
I just got back from seeing The Police in concert. It was pretty rad. There was a lot of really great rock guitar and some awesome reggaeish bass beats. I also enjoyed the percussion, with the little cymbals and bells and timpani (I believe). Plus, the drummer was silly so I liked him. Sting's voice still sounds great and he's pretty good looking for a man of advancing years (I don't actually know how old he is). They played all their big hits, a bunch of songs I vaguely recognized, and a few more besides.

Before the concert I went to Easy Street Records and bought The Matches' album E. Von Dahl Killed the Locals and the May issue of Kerrang (w/The Used as cover boys..."crazy Bert is back" according to the cover!).

That got me thinking to when I saw The Police and I realised it was in 1979 which is nearly 30 years ago!!! Isn't that terrible?!
It was in a smallish theatre in Oxford when they were still punks and I was bitterly disappointed that they kept walking off stage because they were being spat on! I mean...this was during THE punk era and spitting was to be expected. I wasn't surprised when they wimped out of the punk scene after using it to gain fame and I've harbored hard feelings toward Sting ever since. ;)
I always had a crush on Stewart Copeland though. Is he still the drummer?

God...I feel so old now! But I'm glad you enjoyed the concert. :)

Ewww to being spat on, but better spit then bottles I guess. I didn't even know that The Police had been part of the punk scene! God, I wish I had lived through that era of music (or at least been old enough to enjoy it).

Yes, Stewart Copeland is still the drummer, and he is kind of adorable. He seemed like he was having a very good time and was really cheerful.
